To this day it seems unthinkable that as a four-year-old, receiving my Hello Kitty basic digital camera would develop into my passion for photography. This moment at a young age would be the start of a hobby, then develop into more specific and technical skills used to communicate visual ideas to others.
Middle school introduced me to my Publications class and completing photography projects. I had already been competing in 4-H photography since the 3rd grade. This class enhanced the idea to consider more techniques (such as light streaking on the photo to the right outside of Grand Central Station in New York City) and learning the settings of a camera to capture memories Now as the Photography Editor for our yearbook for the past three years, my devotion of visual storytelling continues to constantly improve and consider more methods to advance my craft.
My interest in studying marketing was awakened by the love of photography. I will continue to compete in state and local contests, while also having an interest in working with my future collegiate publication. The reward is to share my creativity and help bring the stories together with my photography. This motivates me to learn new concepts that can be experimented with and developed, advancing the quality of my photos being taken. Without bettering ourselves we could tend to become complacent with the work done, rather than continually striving for success.
